The mission of Lyon Eye Institute is to advance quality care in patients by encouraging high standards of training, ethics, physician practice, and research in Orange County.
The cornerstone of Lyon Eye Institute is patient safety. Dr. Lyon actively seeks new and innovative ways to educate not only patients, but also his staff through continuing medical education efforts. About Dr. Lyon
Dr. Christopher Lyon, M.D., Ph.D., M.Sc. is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic surgeon affiliated with Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. Patient safety is our cornerstone. Dr. Lyon actively seeks new & innovative ways to educate not only patients, but also staff through continuing education.
Our commitment is seen in our charity outreach to the third world in Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and the Philippines. Founded & directed from Orange County by Dr. Lyon, the BLINDNESS FOUNDATION www.blindcure.com has helped cure cataract blindness in over 80,000 poor patients.
Dr. Lyon's training includes four degrees, starting with his B.Sc. in Biology from Hull University, Yorkshire, in his native England, followed by a Masters in Virology from Malawi, Africa, then his PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Rhode Island, where he met his wife, Cheryl. Dr. Lyon's work as a Cancer Scientist at Roswell Park in Buffalo, New York, was followed by his MD starting at the UACI in Mexico with his Externship at Yale University in Connecticut. His ophthalmology residency was at New York Medical College at Westchester County Hospital in New York, followed by numerous post-MD training courses throughout the world.
Dr. Lyon was granted an Honorary Associate Clinical Professorship Ophthalmology at USC, commemorating his educational activities in SE Asia, and is currently an Associate Clinical Professor Ophthalmology at UERM in the Philippines and Associate Clinical Professor Ophthalmology at UHS in Cambodia. He lectures on cataracts, dry eye and glaucoma.
